Their meetings are held on the third Monday of the month at the Council Home. They also hold various social events for members and their spouses. All eligible women are welcome to join the organization.

Ancient Order of Hibernians

The Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) is the oldest Catholic lay organization in America.  It was officially formed in New York in 1836.  St. Patrick is our Patron Saint.  The AOH nationally donates millions to charities.  Our organization is composed of Irish Catholic men ages 18 and up, who are Irish by birth, descent or adoption.  The Emerald Division I (OC/AOH) is the Division that encompasses the entire Eastern Shore of Maryland and Delaware.  The Division’s main functions are (1) St. Patrick’s Day Mass and Breakfast, (2) Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day Dance in October each year, (3) Participation in the Ocean City St. Patrick’s Day Parade, (4) Irish outreach program to support Irish summer workers in Ocean City, and (5) various other charitable and social events.

The AOH meets the second Saturday of each month at 10 A.M. at the Knights of Columbus home, located at 100 Street and Coastal Highway in Ocean City.  Individuals who are interested in more information should contact Bob McCarthy, President/AOH at 410-250-7821.

Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians

Our Patroness is Saint Brigid. Our membership is composed of Irish Catholic women of all ages, 16 and older who are Irish by birth, descent, or adoption, the wife or mother of the male counterpart, AOH organization, or Junior Hibernian mother. The ladies sponsor a partial scholarship to Trinity College, Washington, DC. Considerable monetary donations are made to the Columbian Missions, the principle charity of the Organization.  Maryland LAOH members are instrumental in the success of such events as the Irish Festival, Saint Patrick’s Day Parade and the annual Mission Festival, Ceilis. Maryland offers two Junior Divisions for young women ages 6 to 16. Please call Maureen O’Brien at 410-250-2271 for information.

Saint Vincent DePaul Society

The Society of Saint Vincent DePaul is a worldwide organization of Lay Catholic men and women whose members meet in Parish and District Groups in order to help in a personal way those in need. Be it sickness or disability, mental or physical, family problems, the alcoholic, the drug addict, the grieving and the alienated- these members are there to help. A regular meeting of perhaps an hour’s duration occurs in which the “helping” contacts of each member are reported and discussed. Weekly visiting is usually done in the company of another member. Members contribute whatever they can afford - their own share in financing the group. If you are interested in joining, please contact Patrick and Jane Mooney at 410-208-4152.
