St. John Neumann Rectory

This final report captures this great labor of love to build the rectory that has been guided and directed by so many wonderful people of our parish. The advice of our dear Lord in the sacred scriptures was taken "to build a house set on a solid foundation".

The rectory was considered a commercial grade project to ensure quality materials and craftsmanship and guarantee many maintenance free years. The goal was to construct an energy efficient building that would take full advantage of the most up to date technologies to ensure future low energy costs. "Let us build it to last for 100 years, since we know the parish is going to be here that long!" was often the quote at countless meetings. We have been truly blessed to achieve this goal with the land, the talent, the time and the resources to do the job well and fulfill the dream of having our own parish rectory for our resident clergy. It truly is a beautiful, traditional (3180 square ft) rectory and we are proud of our accomplishment! All the furnishings and accessories selected are conservative and will never go out of style.

I am grateful to so many who have worked collaboratively along the way:

  • Bishop Saltarelli and Monsignor Cini

  • Diocesan Building Committee

  • Parish Building Committee

  • Pastoral Council

  • Finance Council

  • Mr. Joe Groves who began the initial design/plans

  • Mr. Rich Pearson who managed the project

  • Mr. Al Sgro and Ellen Abbot and the entire Rectory Gift Giving Committee

  • All of the parishioners for your support and excitement over the past year

Many contractors have graciously donated additional time and labor in various areas; thank you for your gift to our parish:

  • ATEC Industries

  • Jay Culver

  • TE Smith

  • Davidson Masonry

  • First Electric

  • Royal Plus Flooring

  • Seaboard Roofing

  • Chesapeake Contracting

  • Bowmar Millwork

I am most appreciative to the following parishioner-owned businesses who freely gave of their services and products at cost contributing to tremendous savings for our project:

  • Grateful Wood

  • Home Blind and Florist

  • Home Storage Management

  • Interior Collections

  • Comfort Guard II Insulation

  • Mitchell Furniture

  • Dave Cherry and Sons Landscaping

  • Casual Designs Furniture

As Mother Theresa reminded us so often, "together, we can do beautiful things for God".  Our parish can be proud of the new rectory we have built and furnished and know that it will serve us well for many years! May God bless you for your many kindnesses!

With a grateful heart,

Father Protack, Pastor
